was presented by 516 ARTS with Outpost Performance Space and Church of Beethoven, co-sponsored by ACLU-NM, at multiple venues:

KUNM Call-in Show with Arcie Chapa, featured guests Kevin Coval, Amalia Ortiz, and SHOUT-OUT Festival Co-Curator Idris Goodwin. Broadcast at 89.9FM and online at kunm.org

PERFORMANCE: Thursday, November 4, 7:30pm
The Outpost Performance Space & 516 ARTS presented a concert by The Proverb Trio featuring Cuban born drummer/composer, Dafnis Prieto and rapper, Kokayi a kicking off the spoken word festival, with opening performances by youth poets from the NHCC’s Voces program, emcee’d by Idris Goodwin.

PERFORMANCE: Friday, November 5, 7:30pm
516 WORDS spoken word event at 516 ARTS featured special guests Kevin Coval and Amalia Ortiz, with opening performances by New Mexico poets Carlos Contreras, Sina Soul and Tanaya Winder.

KEYNOTE PERFORMANCE: Saturday, November 6, 7:30pm
&516 ARTS presented Cecil Taylor and Amiri Baraka performing Diction and Contra Diction, opened by Idris Goodwin performing New Mexico Remix with projections of Chaz Bojórquez’s related mural, emcee’d by Hakim Bellamy, followed by reception at 516 ARTS.

PERFORMANCE: Sunday, November 7, 10:30am
Church of Beethoven presented beatboxing and classical music with performances members of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and guest Saywut?! An open house for STREET ARTS exhibition at 5G Gallery next door followed the event.
