STEM + Art Teacher Training Session
FREE at 516 ARTS
516 ARTS invites educators to an afternoon of professional development and hands-on training session to help teachers use the new online STEM + Arts curriculum in their classrooms.
Join guest teacher Agnes Chavez, STEMArts specialist, for a step-by-step exploration of innovative solutions for integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and the Arts in education.
The ISEA2012 STEMArts curriculum is organized around the work and personal stories of selected artists in the ISEA2012 exhibition at both 516 ARTS and The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History (on view through January 6, 2013). Through the online curriculum, teachers learn how the arts help teach STEM skills, and go behind the scenes to glimplse into the creative process of cutting edge artists integrating art, science and technology into their work. This session also introduces teachers to a vast realm of free, STEM-related education resources they can use on an ongoing basis.
The session will be followed by an optional tour of STEM + Art projects at The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History.
