Women in Design: New Mexico
at 516 ARTS
Women in Design: New Mexico and 516 ARTS present a special event in the gallery for Women & Creativity to learn, share and network with some of Albuquerque's accomplished emerging and established women designers and architects. Visit 516 ARTS for a special walk-through tour of the exhibition From the Ground Up: Design Here + Now with the curators Katya Crawford, Viviette Hunt, Kristen Shaw and Mira Woodson, and a series of short talks by a selection of women artists in the show.
The work of Jennifer Vasher elicits sensory experiences within unorthodox architectural spaces that are comprised of diverse and unexpected materials. Trained at Rhode Island School of Design, Emi Ozawa makes playful objects that evoke curiosity and are exceptionally crafted. Whether painting or designing objects, Danielle Rae Miller focuses on the natural world. Sara Stewart supplements her architectural practice with pursuits in the natural world to fulfill a need for places of engagement and inspiration, once explored in a phenomenological study of architecture. Amanda Robinson brings together architecture and fashion constructing new multi-media readings of the world around us.
The one-hour program of talks starts at 5:30, with refreshments throughout and music before and after.
Admission: $10 in advance or at the door to benefit the nonprofit 516 ARTS.
RSVP by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 505-242-1445.
