Rob Soto, science illustrator and paleoartist, is teaching this hands-on drawing workshop exploring non-human perspectives of the natural environment. Participants will explore map making in the context of nature journaling with u201cnew eyesu201d with which to see outdoor spaces and discover hidden patterns.
nn
The word u201ccartographyu201d refers specifically to the act of drawing a map, a skill lost in the digital age. Using a local plant or animal, participants will draw a top-down, cross section, and block map of a small ecological feature, from that organismu2019s point of view, mapping the intrinsic value of the ecosystem, and shedding human-assigned values in nature.
nn
All levels and ages are welcome.
