Online Workshop: Making Collage Animations

Join acclaimed artists Lisa Barcy and Paloma Trecka, who use collage animation to create award-winning short films, for a hands-on, online workshop from home. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the medium, gaining an understanding of animation history, practices, design principles, and techniques. The workshop is composed of a lecture and demo, followed by time for explorating the technqiues to create original works with guidance from the artists, and sharing of the animations produced during the workshop. All levels welcome.

n u2022 A smart phone with the Stop-Motion Studio Pro app installed.

u2022 A table on which to shoot your animation

u2022 X-acto knife and scissors

u2022 A small cutting mat (If you donu2019t have one you can use a piece of chip board like a cereal box)

u2022 A hole punch (Again, if you donu2019t have one, donu2019t fret u2013 you can still make it work)

u2022 Masking tape u2013 I like blue painteru2019s tape but any kind will do

u2022 Elmeru2019s glue

u2022 Miscellaneous images for cutting and animating such as old magazines, clip art, old photos, etc.

u2022 A bamboo skewer – helps with animating small bits! You can also sharpen the end of a paintbrush.
