Craig Upson

While I’ve been making art for decades its only been in the last few years that I’ve been able to dedicate large amounts of time to my practice. Up until recently my day job has been visualizing the world around me, from science to entertainment, from physical to virtual. However my art has consistently remained focused on our shared humanity via portraiture and figurative works–both 2D and sculptural. My academic background is in the sciences and I’ve augmented this over the years with art workshops, classes and seminars from the School of Visual Arts, Center of the Book, Haystack Mountain, California College of Art, and the Museum of the African Diaspora among others. I’ve only recently started to devote effort in exhibiting my work, however pieces have been seen in shows from California to Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Washington DC, Florida and New York. My work can currently be seen at the Jack Fischer Gallery in San Francisco.
