Dorothea Osborn

Dorothea Osborn is a visual artist who lives and works just outside of Albany, New York, on the original yellow brick road alluded to in Poe’s writings (or so it is said). Ms. Osborn’s recent body of work consists of cross disciplinary work, ranging from paintings, drawing to hybrid sculptural paintings. She frequently uses oils, mixed media and vintage clothing and material. Themes of eco-feminism, time and dualities are reoccurring themes in her work. Her work explores tensions between dichotomies, time, the Anthropocene, and spirituality.

Dorothea Osborn received her MFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz, Magna cum Laude. She has exhibited at the University of Michigan, Albany Center Gallery, The Fountain in NYC, WAC in Brooklyn, The Hudson Mohawk Regional, The Albany Institute of History and Art, and many others venues. A complete CV is available on her website.

In addition to exhibiting widely, Ms. Osborn has also taught painting and drawing extensively. Most recently, she has taught at Hudson Valley Community College, Ghost Ranch, New Mexico and been guest critic at SUNY schools. She has also taught at Mass MoCA. She has been awarded New York State Foundation on the Arts awards, best in show numerous times, and has been the spotlight artist in various on-line publications including Gambling the Aisle and the Rising Artist. She has been awarded residencies at Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Arts, Letters and Numbers, Vermont Studio Center and a residency at Joshua Tree, California in 2014.
