Inas Al-soqi

I am a storyteller that uses vintage ephemera and books to assemble collages with a unique sense of humor towards worldly sensibilities. I consider myself to be a heritage-driven artist, I work with the cultural diversities that I encounter in trips around the world. I have a solid education in printmaking and painting from Tufts University, which has allowed me to circulate the globe. The subject matter in my work play with the dichotomy between the sanctioned and the unsanctioned, and that of folk and fine art. They deliver an endearing form of satire as they express an ironic interpretation of class and nobility. The composition of my work addresses the following themes: Eastern culture, Arab culture, early colonial federalism, and violence against women.
