Mimi Frank

Mimi Frank was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her MFA from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland in 1979. Her sculptures and installations address subject matter that explores under appreciated myths, histories and figures. The intense craftsmanship brought to her work underscores her elevated level of expression and interpretive power. Having used a variety of traditional media in her works her embrace of industrial technologies and materials has further enhanced her ability to explore both content and construction of sculptural concepts.

Ms Frank has received several Maryland State Arts Council Grants and has been nominated for an Award in The Visual Arts among other honors. She has had solo exhibits in California, Dumbo, New York, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and the Mid-Atlantic region. She has been included in numerous group exhibitions. Ms Frank has served on the faculty of the Catholic University of America, Georgetown University, the University of Maryland and numerous artist boards. She lives and works in Maryland and maintains a studio in Brinklow, Maryland.
